Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana Dal Beans
  • 2-1/2 cups Water

Instructions

Stove-Top Preparation
  1. Sort and rinse 1 cup of Bob’s Red Mill Chana Dal. Place in a medium size pot, add 2 ½ cups of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, until tender, about 25 - 30 minutes. Make sure to keep beans covered with water during cooking; if water level is low, add additional water and reduce the cooking temperature. Makes approximately 2-1/2 cups cooked beans.
Pressure Cooker Preparation
  1. Sort and rinse 1 cup of Bob’s Red Mill Chana Dal. Place in pressure cooker and add 3 cups of water. Secure lid, set pressure to high and begin heating on high heat. When steam begins a steady flow from the release valve, reduce heat to medium and let cook for 20 - 23 minutes. When cooking time has completed, turn heat off and allow pressure to decrease naturally for 15 minutes. Carefully remove lid and drain water from beans.
