Today's spotlight is on Madeleine Raiford Holland, gluten free foodie and business guru from Georgia!
She first started her successful blog, Moderately High Maintenance, as an outlet for her creativity to share city guides from her business travels. As her following began to increase, Madeleine noticed that while her readers were interested in traveling, they were also curious about what she was eating while on-the-go. That's when she decided to start incorporating some of her favorite gluten free and dairy free recipes onto her blog. No surprise here, it was a success!
Wondering when she became gluten free? Madeleine's health journey began five years ago in college when she was diagnosed with Graves, an autoimmune thyroid disease. After several tests, Madeleine realized that she had various food tolerances. From there, she decided to begin a gluten free and dairy free diet, which began her ever-growing relationship with wholesome foods.
When not baking, you can find Madeleine spending time on her personal "farm" taking care of her five rescue kittens, four chickens, three dwarf goats, and two Great Pyrenees puppies. She lives by the motto "quality over quantity" and enjoys sharing that philosophy with all of her readers in hopes of inspiring them to enjoy great experiences, whole, healthy food, and a good Netflix show every once in a while. Madeleine believes that the best things in life are either free or very expensive. To find out more about her moderately high maintenance lifestyle, be sure to stop by her blog and Instagram.

Moderately High Maintenance started as a creative outlet to share city guides from my business travels. I was spending lots of nights by myself in hotel rooms in random cities, so I decided to channel that energy into writing. Since I would always get questions from friends and family about the best places to eat and visit, I started ModeratelyHighMaintenance.com to put it all in one place! When I started getting more readers (other than my mom, LOL) I started incorporating my favorite gluten and dairy-free recipes and all about life on my hobby farm. Now Moderately High Maintenance shares inspirational yet attainable lifestyle content on a large range of topics, including food, travel, and wellness, and has over 100k readers every single month!
I have always been interested in health and wellness, but in college, I was diagnosed with Graves, an autoimmune thyroid disease, and it completely changed the way that I approach life. After much testing, I realized that I have several food intolerances.
I am gluten and dairy-free.
My entire family calls me Lolly instead of Madeleine. My sister, Meredith, could not say Madeleine as a child and somehow came up with Lolly, and it stuck!
I love Bob's Bars, especially when I am traveling. They are so easy to just grab and go!
I make an Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe with BRM gluten-free quick oats that are my all-time favorite!
Baking in batches! I will make a batch of cookie dough and keep it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. I can make just a few cookies for an after-dinner snack all week long!
Smoothie person!
This spring, I am starting an organic garden. I look forward to sharing all of the ins and outs of my first foray into growing my own food and fun recipes.

Learn a little bit about the chemistry behind the baking. It is fascinating to learn about the science behind the recipe and opens the doors to creativity in your kitchen once you understand why something works! There are a couple of great documentaries on Netflix that are a great place to start!
