Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8 x 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper with about 2 inches of overhang.
Prepare crumb topping by mixing together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and kosher salt. Add melted butter and mix with your hands or a fork until crumbles form. Cover and chill.
In a separate bowl, combine filling ingredients and set aside.
In another large bowl, combine cake mix with milk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla extract. Whisk until combined and smooth, about 1 minute.
Pour half the batter into the prepared baking pan. Add half of the filling, then pour the remaining batter on top. Top with the remainder of the filling and then the crumb topping.
Bake for 45–60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out of the center clean.
Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan, then dust with powdered sugar.
