Missing our discontinued Irish Soda Bread Mix? We've created a recipe based on our original mix, so you can recreate it at home! For a sweet twist, stir in 1 cup of raisins, currants or chopped dates.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly oil a 9-inch pie pan or 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl until blended and evenly dispersed. In a separate bowl, whisk together water, oil and egg and add to dry mixture; mix until a uniform dough forms.
Place dough on a lightly floured surface and knead briefly to create a smooth dough. With well-floured hands, form the dough into a ball or loaf. Place in prepared pan and, if baking in a pie pan, pat to about 8-inches in diameter and 1 ½-inches high. Slash with a sharp knife to make a cross on the top.
Bake until puffed and golden, 40–45 minutes. Serve hot or cold.
