Spelt Bread from the Breadmachine

Spelt Bread from the Breadmachine

Spelt is a grain used in biblical times. It is a variety of wheat which some wheat sensitive people can tolerate while others cannot. You will be the best judge. (If gluten is your problem, you will want to avoid spelt.)

  • 1 tsp Cider Vinegar

  1. This is for a 1 lb. loaf using the Welbilt-type of breadmachine.

Place yeast and sugar together in one corner of the baking canister. Add salt and spelt flour.

Push start button and use the basic bread setting.

Note I: Clear vinegar is made from grains and should be avoided.

Note II: If you have the kind of breadmaker that requires the liquid be added first, combine and mix all ingredients well, and add the dough to your bread canister.

You can also use your own familiar manual bread making skills with this recipe.

Allow loaf to cool before cutting.

Makes 1-1/2 lb loaf (13 slices).
