Grease muffin pan or line with paper liners. Preheat oven to 400°F.
Stir together flour, wheat germ, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in center of dry ingredients.
Combine egg, milk, and melted butter or margarine; add all at once to flour mixture. Stir until just moistened; the batter will still be slightly lumpy.
Fill muffin pan 2/3 full and bake muffins at 400°F for 20 minutes or until muffins are lightly browned. Serve warm.
