Sometimes, doing the old flowers and a card for Mother’s Day just doesn’t cut it. You want to do something different for your mom this year. After all, she raised you and put up with you since you were born, through your terrible twos and your teenage angst . . . she should get something sweet out of the deal, right? We concur, which is why we think these delicious edible gifts are the perfect solution. Instead of dazzling your mom’s eyes with pretty flowers, you can dazzle her taste buds with yummy, homemade treats made with the utmost love and affection. Even better, you’re the chef, so you get to taste test ahead of time. Mm-mmm good!

5 Ingredient Fresh Blackberry Galette

3 Edible Gifts to Give Your Mom for Mother's Day | Bob's Red Mill Blog First up is this decadent looking, drool-worthy fresh blackberry galette. With fresh (or frozen) blackberries and perfectly buttery crust, there’s not one thing about this recipe you won’t love. Plus, it’s so simple! That means that you can make it just before a nice Mother’s Day lunch or brunch gathering, and it will be fresh and warm from the oven. Or you can make it the night or day before, and warm it back up with no sacrifice of drool-worthiness. This fruit galette is made with our very own Organic Unbleached White All Purpose Flour, and nothing more (or less) than blackberries, a bit of water and sugar, and butter. See how simple it is? Once you’ve prepared your dough and warmed up your oven, you’ll want to fold up those blackberries inside of it, sprinkle the whole masterpiece with sugar, and bake for 40-45 minutes. Your end result should be a beautiful golden brown color. To add a little extra decadence, serve this treat to your mom with a small side of ice cream and a drizzle of caramel. Your mom will be so amazed, she won’t even miss the flowers.

Gluten Free Apple Bundt Cakes

3 Edible Gifts to Give Your Mom for Mother's Day | Bob's Red Mill Blog Is your mom more of a Bundt cake kind of lady? Never fear, we’ve got something for her too. These apple-spiced mini Bundt cakes are perfect for sharing with friends and family too. You can make a double batch and have plenty to pass around the table. Plus, they’re almost like the Bundt cake version of a cinnamon bun. Who doesn’t love cinnamon buns? These mini cakes are also gluten free, which is excellent if your mom has any kind of gluten sensitivities. We use a mix of our Gluten ree 1-to-1 Baking Flour, hazelnut flour and baking powder, along with ingredients like Greek yogurt, dark brown sugar and grated apples. Everything is liberally dosed with flavors like cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Once you’ve baked these little guys, you can cover them in a homemade glaze made from powdered sugar, cardamom, butter and apple juice. Once you’ve glazed them (do this while they are still warm) let them rest for 10 minutes or so and then serve! Note that you should make these treats the same day you intend to eat them with your mom for the freshest, tastiest results.

Champagne Cupcakes

3 Edible Gifts to Give Your Mom for Mother's Day | Bob's Red Mill Blog Is there anything that screams love for Mom than beautiful, moist, decadent cupcakes decorated like heaven? We think not. These rosé champagne cupcakes are an excellent accompaniment to Mother’s Day brunch with the fam. The secret ingredient is rosé champagne, which makes all the difference in both the cupcakes themselves and the rich, homemade buttercream icing. We use rosé champagne combined with our Organic Unbleached White All Purpose Flour and plenty of sugar, eggs, vanilla and baking powder. A pinch of salt also brings out all the unique and festive flavor to make it pop. The buttercream icing is made using rosé champagne mixed with butter, vanilla and powdered sugar. So good! You’ll need to bake the cupcakes and let them cool completely before topping them with the icing. You could even add a bit of food coloring to the icing to make them Mom’s favorite color and give them a little extra pizazz. If you want to really make them pretty, you can always add special toppings as well, like pearl candy sprinkles, or perhaps colored sugar sand. We have no doubt your mom will be thrilled to receive any one of these edible Mother’s Day gifts. After all, flowers are nice, sure, but sweet, edible treats she didn’t have to make herself? Now that screams love for your mama.
