Strawberry Shortcake

Classic 4th of July Foods & Recipes | Bob's Red Mill Blog Strawberry shortcake is a timeless dessert, and it’s a popular one to serve on the 4th of July. It’s red, white, creamy and filled with sweet strawberries! Our recipe for Strawberry Shortcake comes from Chef Billy Parisi and is both beautiful and easy to make. He makes his shortcake with eggs, whole milk, Organic Unbleached White All-Purpose Flour, cold butter and sugar, and tops the biscuits with Turbinado Sugar for the final bit of whimsy. The strawberries are sprinkled with sugar, and of course, the whipped cream adds the final delightful touch.

Pie and Cobbler

Classic 4th of July Foods & Recipes | Bob's Red Mill Blog When you think of traditional 4th of July foods, your mind probably wanders to berry or cherry pies and summertime cobblers. If you’ve been given the important job of creating this year’s 4th of July pie, try this recipe for Cherry Berry Pie. Created by Karyn Granrud from Pint Sized Baker, this cherry pie is packed with cherries and raspberries and is especially tasty when served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We love her unique addition of our Gluten Free Vanilla Cake Mix and Coconut Flakes in her filling! If you’re looking for something non-berry, this Roasted Peach Cobbler is the perfect way to showcase the bounty of the season’s stone fruit. It comes to life with peaches, almond milk, sugar, dairy free butter and our Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free 1-to-1 Flour, making it both dairy and gluten free.

S’mores

Classic 4th of July Foods & Recipes | Bob's Red Mill Blog The tradition of s’mores on 4th of July is a fun one! And these Gluten Free Vegan S’mores from our friend Alexa of Fooduzzi are no exception. She uses a simple combination of Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free Oat Flour, almond flour, coconut oil, cinnamon, maple syrup and molasses to build her graham crackers before stuffing them with marshmallow fluff and chocolate. If you’re looking to jazz up your s’mores and make them more festive, consider adding some sliced strawberries and using white chocolate (or vegan white chocolate) instead.
